There’s a transport revolution going on at Chevin Park, Menston where developer Gladedale Yorkshire is providing home buyers with a range of options to live in a green environment (in both senses of the word) without the associated costs of necessarily running a car.
Buyers at Chevin Park not only benefit from a dedicated bus service, funded and guaranteed by the developer for the next two years (til May 2009), but each household is also granted a one-year Metro pass when they move in. Perhaps the thing which will make the most difference to traffic around the site however is that Gladedale is introducing an innovative car club at the development.
Membership of the WhizzGo car club means that residents can take out cars belonging to the club on site for just £4.95 per hour; including insurance, fuel and all maintenance costs, and it is hoped that this will reduce the need for car ownership – with all the associated costs – as well as providing a realistic range of options for those who want to live rurally but need a range of transport options to match their lifestyles.
Sarah Humphries, sales director at Gladedale Yorkshire, explains: “We hope this scheme, combined with the free bus service and Metro pass will lead to fewer cars in Chevin Park, preventing traffic congestion and air pollution and making the development an ideal place to live for children and families. The WhizzGo initiative is open to residents and as an added incentive Gladedale is offering all homebuyers in Chevin Park the insurance deposit plus two months free trial worth around £200.”
“Chevin Park, which is set in over 200 acres of landscaped grounds is a beautiful development of homes and we are committed to playing our part in preserving the natural surroundings and enhancing the local environment for residents.”
The WhizzGo Car Club provides members with all the benefits of car ownership while minimising the negative impact on the surrounding environment.
Sarah Humphries said: “Gladedale Yorkshire is providing homeowners with a cleaner, safer and greener way to live at our Chevin Park development.
“Our aim is to make the development environmentally friendly and make our communities more pleasant places to live without compromising on convenience. The WhizzGo scheme will make an eco-friendly, low-emission car available for people to access when they need one, without the expense of owning their own car.”
Gladedale regional director Warren Thompson said; “Chevin Park is all about lifestyle and we have worked closely with Planners to find innovative ways to deliver the very best of 21st century living, set amongst some very beautiful and traditional Yorkshire scenery. This development is extensive and delivers a real village feel with its mix of homes and apartment styles. There’s no such thing as a standard product at Chevin Park and it is highly appropriate that we are offering variety in transport options too.”
